How can we transform the traditional-linear supply chains into circular systems that do not harm the environment and are beneficial for all? Learn about the different approaches and methodologies in which stakeholders across the value chain can collaborate in order to create circular systems. The discussion will raise the challenges and opportunities faced by companies when adopting circular practices while also focusing on the advantages of being “born circular”.

The panel will be moderated by Danielle Azoulay, VP, Head of ESG at Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Closed Loop Partners

Danielle leads the Closed Loop Ventures Group platform – the seed and pre-seed investment division of Closed Loop Partners focused on catalyzing innovations in the circular economy. She leads sourcing, diligence, transactions and portfolio management.



Prior to Closed Loop Partners, Danielle worked on clean energy project finance activities with Invex Infraestructura and Queensland Investment Corporation. Prior to this, she worked with NewWorld Capital Group on a range of growth equity and project finance related activities across environmental opportunities, including clean energy, energy efficiency, waste-to-value, water resources and reclamation, and environmental services.



Danielle earned her MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business where she led the GSB Impact Fund, an early stage investing platform for impact-driven companies. Danielle earned her BA from Pomona College.

Eileen Fisher

Carmen Gama is a New York-based designer born and raised in Mexico. She attended Parsons The New School for Design and graduated as a finalist for the ‘Designer of the Year’ Award, Class of 2015. Upon graduation, Gama’s ‘Sustainable Urban Outerwear’ thesis earned her the inaugural Eileen Fisher x CFDA Social Innovator fellowship. During her fellowship, Gama worked collaboratively to design a scalable and profitable remanufacturing system for the damaged RENEW Eileen Fisher garments, which concluded with a “Remade in The USA '' capsule collection that debuted in July 2016. Gama is currently the Director of Circular Design at Eileen Fisher and Co-Founder of MAKE ANEEW.



Gama has a true passion for solution-based design and circular systems. Through this framework she is constantly challenging her design values by striving to design scalable systems that have the capacity to extend the life cycle and re-capture the value of pre and post consumer textile waste.



Gama has been featured in numerous publications including Women's Wear Daily, The Wall Street Journal, Vogue, The New York Times and Harper’s Bazaar.

After finishing her masters in Political Science, Elodie worked as a coordinator for cultural projects, a teacher, a content creator and finally joined Fjord, a design and innovation company part of Accenture Interactive in 2013. Her background in sociology, anthropology and political science, and her experience at Fjord, allowed her to deepen her knowledge and experience in user research, design strategy and system thinking, areas that she now applies in her current role at the Foundation.



 



 Elodie is an inquisitive and passionate soul that thrives when challenged. Her interest in people and the planet has been a driving force in her career. She has been working on innovation for digital projects for the past 10 years and has led the work on Circular Design for Fashion, a book published by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation in December 2021 that defines what circular design is and means for the fashion industry.

Unilever North America

With 15 years of experience in the Consumer Goods Industry, Viviana is the former Head of Sustainability for Unilever North America. Prior to this, she was the Head of Corporate Strategy in the US. She has also been part of the Global Corporate Strategy team in London supporting Unilever’s company medium-long term plans at a Global Level, with an emphasis in Inclusive Capitalism and supporting the CEO and Executive team in further integrating sustainability into Unilever’s Corporate Strategy. Viviana has an Executive MBA from ESADE Business School in Barcelona and BSBA in Business Management and International Business. Recent Executive Education at Harvard Business School and University of Oxford on Circular Economy, Sustainable Development, Leadership and Scenario Planning. She is currently finishing an Executive course on Sustainability Leadership in Yale with WBCSD and INSEAD on Leading Organizations in Disruptive Times 



Previous positions in Unilever also include - Global Strategies Social Business Models Project Leader - Unilever Foundation Global Ambassador. Others: - Co-Founder of H2H ("Help to Haiti" NGO in Haiti) since 2010 



Current Advisor on ESG to the private sector and Academia (independent consultant). Board Member of 2 organizations: The Center of Responsible Business for Berkeley University and Sustainable Brands. 



Former Board of Director and advisor of: The Close Loop Partners, The Recycling Partnership and the US Plastics Pact 



Recent awards: SDG Media Award - United Nations, 2019
