To learn how to cancel or reschedule an appointment, click here or visit our website.
ALL STUDENTS MUST READ AND AGREE TO THE SPS STUDENT TUTORING AGREEMENT PRIOR TO UTILIZING OUR SERVICES.
In particular, please note the following:
- Students may only register for one tutoring session per subject, per week. Furthermore, any sessions booked beyond this limitation are subject to be canceled without notice.
- Students may only schedule 5 appointments per tutor for the semester.
- Students must accept the attendance policy, which outlines that cancellations must be made at least 24-hours in advance. Students must also understand that if they cancel a session more than two times, or fail to attend a session without prior notice, they will not be able to schedule another appointment in the current semester. Continuous cancellations or skipped appointments will result in removal from the program.
Subject-Based Tutoring
Subject-based tutoring is meant to help SPS students fill existing gaps in knowledge and to become independent learners in a particular subject. As an expert in a content area, subject-based tutors provide support and clarification for material that students have trouble understanding. Subject-based tutoring is offered on a first-come, first-served basis in one-on-one sessions for the following content areas: Programming (Python, R, SQL, Machine Learning), Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, and Advanced Excel.
Our subject-based tutors are fellow SPS students who have demonstrated academic excellence in their coursework thus far at Columbia. All tutors receive recommendations from SPS faculty members and professional training from Student Support staff. To schedule a one-on-one session with a subject-based tutor, visit SPS Engage.
English Language Tutoring
In partnership with the American Language Program (ALP), the SPS Tutoring Program offers English Language tutoring services for both English Speaking and English Writing. Our English Language tutors are ALP faculty members who volunteer their time to assist SPS students in enhancing their technical English speaking and writing skills.
